Lacy Lucy from "Teddy Bear FURever Series"
cast aluminum 17” x 10” x 8” (standing position) 13” x 13” x 9” (standing position) This work started from my curiosity of how I could make a movable/articulated metal bear. I’m very proud of my craftsmanship that made this bear come out very successfully. This bear can sit or stand, move the arms up and down, and tilt its head. A stuffed bear is supposed to be soft and warm, but I made totally opposite one: hard and cold. The livings have limited life, but this metal bear lives FURever. She has a beautiful lacy pattern all over the body. I stretched lace over the wax patterns and made molds. The result was more than I expected. She was housed at the Tweed Museum, University of Minnesota-Duluth as its collection. 2008
